String Women

“Before getting a grant from AWARD to start my string business, I just used to sit idle after completing my house tasks. My husband is a labourer and sometimes he did not have work, which meant that we struggled to make ends meet. The business training and grant changed everything. I started a string making business, now I have engaged 10 other women from the village and they also help, they earn around PKR 10,000 each month. I buy second hand jerseys from the market and give them to the10 women to unwind the wool and then I spin the wool into string. Every day I make 22 kg of string, the demand for it is high.  Each month I also saved PKR 3,000 and now I have saved PKR 120,000 and want to buy a bigger spinning machine. I am thankful to AWARD and PPI for the support that has changed our lives”.  Rehana Razaq Business String making
